Meet Ben, our College Chaplain

Ben, our College Chaplain is here to support any of our students (whether they have a faith or not) and can help with everything from day to day advice to questions about deeper life.

There will be a new College Chaplain at KGV Sixth Form College in Southport from September, available to chat to any student, whether they have a faith or not.

The college is delighted to welcome Ben Dyer, who is also the curate at Southport’s St James Church in Birkdale.

Students can talk to Ben about anything and everything whether that be advice, philosophical questions about deeper life or just a light-hearted chat.

His approach is friendly and relaxed and he is looking forward to getting to know the students once term begins again after the summer.

Our Assistant Principal, Stephen Musa said: “We are thrilled that Ben has volunteered to join our team at KGV and we are sure he will be a fantastic listening ear and talking partner for many of our students this year. Positive mental health and wellbeing is a vital part of KGV life and having Ben on board is another important way to encourage this to amongst both our students and staff.”

MP Damien Moore visits King George V College to show his support as colleges call for equality in their funding when compared with other parts of the education sector.

Rugby is Back at KGV

We are delighted to have partnered with Southport Rugby Club to put Rugby firmly back on the agenda at KGV. Many of our students have played rugby competitively at school and are keen to keep this up when they join the college, in addition to their academic programme.

Recent Trips & Visits

Our students recently went on a number of trips and visits including the Northern College of Music, Juniper Press at the Bluecoat and the Senior Maths Challenge.

KGV Alumni Achieves Cambridge Success

Many congratulations to Dan Howard who has recently graduated from Churchill College, University of Cambridge, with a BA Hons Degree in Medicine. This is a truly marvellous achievement and a testament to all the hard work he has put in over the years.
