Free parking is available at KGV for students,staff and visitors choosing to travel by car. Enquiries about obtaining a student parking permit should be made to Reception
Travelling by Bicycles, Mopeds/Motorbikes
The College has a number of cycle sheds around the site for use by students who wish to cycle to College. All bicycles should be secured using a good quality locking system.
Students are welcome to ride their mopeds/motorbikes to College. You will need to complete a parking form so that we have your details on record, but you’re not required to display a permit. All mopeds/motorbikes should be secured using a good quality locking system.
Travelling by public transport
KGV is well serviced by buses operating from Crossens, Formby, Ainsdale, Crosby and Liverpool, as well as Maghull, Skelmersdale, Ormskirk and Tarleton. The College is situated on a major bus route to and from Southport town centre and buses from across the region stop outside or near to the KGV site. If you are unsure about which bus to take, then please contact Reception.
KGV is within walking distance of both Meols Cop (1 mile) and Southport Train Station (1.5 miles), making the college accessible from both the Merseyrail and Manchester lines.
If you are aged 16-18 and live more than 3 miles away from the College site, then you are eligible for a free travel pass. Students who live 1-2.9 miles away may still be eligible for a free travel pass, but will be means-tested to assess your eligibility. The College may also allocate a Trio pass where daily use of multiple transport providers is unavoidable. For more information, please contact the Student Information Team.
