As part of their work on the British Film industry A Level Film Studies and Media Studies students from KGV visited studios, cinemas and the BBC during a trip to London. The students visited Warner Brothers Harry Potter Experience, the BFI IMAX cinema (the largest cinema screen in Britain) and art-house cinema, Curzon Soho.
They also visited BBC Broadcasting House for a behind the scenes tour where they made their own radio play complete with sound effects and music.
Theory into practise
In the classroom the students have been studying film production, the distribution process and film marketing techniques. Visiting the Harry Potter experience gave them an excellent case study of an extremely successful franchise that has reached millions of people world-wide and the whole trip gave them valuable insight in to the sector.
