What will I study

Media Studies is a subject that is truly contemporary and relevant to everyone. It is intellectually challenging but extremely rewarding. Media provides a pathway for students to progress onto higher education, whilst also teaching students useful skills that will be incredibly useful in the media industry and beyond. Furthermore, as the media becomes more and more ubiquitous in our lives, it is extremely important for students to be able to analyse and critique the media that surrounds them, so that they can question and try to understand what is happening in society.

You will study different media forms, ranging from contemporary YouTubers and TV series to advertising/marketing techniques of the 1950s, looking at how the products demonstrate the role that media has had in our society. In addition you’ll produce your own multi-form production, this means creating video, print and website content for your project.
