KGV prioritises student wellbeing with Mental Health Awareness X Summer Safety initiative

KGV's Student Welfare Team combined Summer Safety and Mental Health Awareness Week by hosting a two-week programme packed with engaging events to boost student wellbeing.

KGV students with Natterjack Alpacas

A series of workshops, informative talks, and interactive activities took place over 2 weeks to promote student wellbeing and relieve stress during exam season. Firstly, we welcomed Ormskirk based Natterjack Alpacas onto campus. Their calming presence and entertaining personalities were loved by staff and students alike, breathing a breath of fresh air onto campus in between exams. We can’t thank the Natterjack team enough for their visit!

Later on in the week, representatives from local organisations came in for a lunch-time drop-in session to equip students with information and resources to prioritize their mental and physical health over the summer and beyond. Guest speakers from local organisations included:

These representatives provided essential, practical advice and information on various topics, including:

  • Mental health awareness and coping mechanisms
  • Staying safe in the community and around natural environments
  • Building healthy relationships
  • Responsible drug and alcohol use
  • Maintaining sexual health

Our Student Welfare Team did a fantastic job with their Mental Health Awareness X Summer Safety initiative. Overall, it was an absolute success and provided our students with the knowledge and confidence to stay safe, healthy, and manage stress throughout exam season, the summer break, and beyond.

Here at KGV, we have an ongoing commitment to promoting student wellbeing. To learn more, visit here.
