Boss it Week

An industrious week is in store for our A Level students as they prepare for ‘Boss it Week’. Students will spend the whole week working with employers in industries they aspire to have careers in.

From 23 – 27 June 2025, students can either spend the week on placement with an employer or take part in an employer-led project in college.

Students set to spend a full week on-site with our employer partners, will get a real taste for working in industry. They will become a member of the employer’s team, with defined roles and set tasks to complete for the whole week. This is great for helping define career aspirations and really whetting their appetites for employment in the industry.

For students on the employer-led projects, they will be split into teams and on day 1 of Boss it Week, employers will present them with a project; a ‘problem’ unique to their industry which needs solving. Throughout the week in college, students will employ team collaboration, effective communication and problem-solving skills to arrive at a solution to the problem. At the end of the week, they will present their solutions to the employers and receive constructive feedback.

Whichever route the students take, they will gain a great example to reference on CVs and UCAS applications, with a strong insight into seeing how the subjects they study translate into some of the career opportunities available to them.

We already have many employers signed up to either host students or run an in-college project. However, we are still looking for employers from all industries. If you’re interested in helping attract the next generation of employees into your industry, please get in touch: employer.partnerships@southport.ac.uk we would love to hear from you.
