What will I study

Our Health and Social Care course is an idea starting place if you are considering a career in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, midwifery or other health and social care roles.

The content is varied and interesting, ranging from explore the fascinating course of life from conception to death to examining some of the different roles and responsibilities within a health & social care team. Learning methods include independent research projects, practical work-related study, talks from visiting speakers and group work. Your assignments are based on realistic workplace situations and activities, such as how to support individuals with additional needs and how to communicate professionally in health and social care settings.

Your course is divided into 4 units spread over the two years:

  • Unit 1 – Human lifespan development

  • Unit 2 – Working in Health and Social Care

  • Unit 5 – Meeting individual care and support needs

  • Unit 12 – Supporting individuals with additional needs.

Course assessment is based on a mix of internal and external assessment (Coursework and exam)

This qualification does not provide a licence to practise but may support progression into a wide range of job roles in the health and social care sector, including: Care Support Workers, Healthcare Assistants and Community-based Support Workers.

Entry Requirements

Standard

2 GCSEs at grade 5 or above and 3 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including a pass (4 or above) in GCSE Maths or English.

You can study 3 a-levels or a combination of a-levels and a-level equivalents.
