Tsars and Thatchers!

Tsars and Thatchers!

We hope you're excited about learning all about Russia and the USSR in just our first unit! You'll find out all about the period of the Russian Tsars from 1855 – 1917, ending with the rise of the Bolsheviks in November 1917.

With reference to Britain, you will discover the establishment of the post-war consensus between 1951 and the rise of Thatcher in 1979. Plus you will also get the chance to conduct your independent research on the European Witchcraze too!

If you enjoy learning all about the events of the past and how we can use mistakes to correct our future then History is the subject for you!

To whet your appetite a little further, why not having a go at this little Summer Challenge...find the answers to these three questions and see how many bonus facts about those answers you can find too.

  • 1. How many years Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister for?
  • 2. How many General Elections did she win?
  • 3. In what year was Tsar Alexander II assassinated and by which group?

Trips and Visits!

Studying the European Witchcraze wouldn't be complete without a trip up to North Lancashire, the home-town of the Pendle Witches and where they were trialled and executed. Where restrictions and guidance allow, we can't wait to take you.

We'll also be studying the modern day Troubles in Northern Ireland. Again we're really hoping we can take you to visit this fascinating part of the UK.
