"[Roman] Roads? Where we're going, we don't need [Roman] roads."
- Dr. Emmett Brown

What better way to get hands on with Ancient History than to travel there? In the absence of a Flux Capacitor and a Delorean, the next best thing would be to jump on the train to Chester and see what remains of its fort's wall and the reconstruction of the amphitheatre.

Equally as helpful is catching up on some of the best films set in ancient Greece and ancient Rome. Even though these aren't entirely accurate, they'll get you thinking about how people lived in Greece and Rome. A few we'd recommend are

  • 300
  • Gladiator
  • Jason and the Argonauts
  • Clash of the Titans
  • Rome (the TV series)

Where restrictions and guidance allows... we're looking forward to visiting an important historical site; the beautifully-preserved Roman palace of Fishbourne in Sussex! It is a prescribed source for the Roman Britain depth study. It's absolutely amazing and we really hope we can get you there in your second year at KGV Sixth Form College!
