At King George V College we offer flexible course pathways to suit your interests and academic strengths.
Currently, there are three different Level 3 Study Programmes to choose from at KGV: the A Level Study Programme, the Mixed Study Programme or the BTEC Study Programme. Each study programme is two years long and all students will leave the College with at least 3 A Levels or equivalent.
The A LEVEL STUDY PROGRAMME
Choose: 3 A Level subjects
Entry requirements: 4 A* - B grades at GCSE plus subject specific entry requirements where applicable and including a C or above in GCSE Maths or English
What’s involved? A Levels are traditional, academic qualifications offered by schools and colleges. They're highly valued by universities and employers and are completed over 2 years. For most subjects, all exams will take place at the end of your second year however there are still some modular subjects.
The MIXED STUDY PROGRAMME
Choose: A combination of 3 A Levels and BTEC Subsidiaries
Entry requirements: 5 A*-C grades at GCSE plus subject specific entry requirements where applicable and including a C or above in GCSE Maths or English
What’s involved? The Mixed Study Programme allows you to choose a combination of A Level and BTEC Subsidiaries. BTEC Subsidiaries are Level 3 Advanced Qualifications, each equivalent to one A Level, and are widely recognised and valued at Universities across the Country. This flexible programme encourages students to choose a range of courses that play to your strengths and interests.
Choose: 1 BTEC Extended Diploma
Entry requirements: 5 A*-C grades at GCSE including C or above in GCSE Maths or English
What’s involved? Our BTEC courses will give you hands-on practical experience within an area of study. Choose a BTEC Extended Diploma if you would like to study one subject in lots of detail. After studying your BTEC Extended Diploma, you will leave us with a qualification equivalent to 3 A Levels.
