BTEC A LEVEL EQUIVALENT IN CREATIVE DIGITAL MEDIA PRODUCTION AT KGV
A BTEC A Level Equivalent in Creative Digital Media Production will develop students industry related knowledge and skills. You will study a range of general topics such as media representations and pre-production skills, as well as furthering your knowledge in specialist areas such as advertisement and stop motion animation production.
You will develop core skills including research, presentation and teamwork in addition to creative and technical skills such as the use of digital video cameras, video editing and desktop publishing software.
Students can progress on to a range of media related courses in the future including general media and film studies courses and courses specialising in areas such as Graphic Design, Advertising, Journalism and Animation. Throughout the course, students will also learn the demands that are involved working as a freelancer and the necessary skills required to pursue this line of business.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
A strong student in this course would be expected to have both the self-motivation to work independently and the ability to work well in a team. They should be creative and keen to learn new technical skills. They should think critically about media products and have an understanding of varied media audiences.
You can choose to study Creative Media as part of a mixed programme where you study 3 subjects from a combination of two A Levels and one BTEC A Level Equivalent qualifications. You will need a minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above and 3 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including Maths or English. You should also check the entry requirements for all of your chosen subjects some of which may require specific GCSEs or grades.
BUILD YOUR FUTURE
Students will have the opportunity to visit media industry sites in London such as the British Film Institute, BBC Broadcasting House and Leavesden Studios (where the Harry Potter films were produced).
Throughout the year, the College welcomes a number of guest speakers from the media industry, including former students. We can also arrange student work placements in local media organisations.
