King George V College

Over the two years of the course, you will study two set texts and get the chance to make several theatre trips to experience professional performances. For your practical exams, you will work in a small group to create three pieces of theatre based on selected texts, influenced by a theatre practitioner; you will perform one of these for your exam. You will also produce a piece of devised drama in a small group again for the second part of your practical exam. As you make decisions about your future, expert staff will be on hand to advise you and to help you prepare your audition pieces for drama school or university. Former students have gone on to study, drama, musical theatre and theatre studies and have taken up careers in performing, directing and theatre administration.

As part of your course, you will make several trips to see professionally produced theatre. You will also take part in tours and workshops given by our local providers such as LIPA and Edge Hill University. To further your knowledge and experience of our chosen practitioners, you will take part in workshops at College given by members of prestigious theatre companies such as Frantic Assembly and Shared Experience.

Drama and Performing Arts courses are situated within KGV’s new £4million Creative Arts Building. This features a fully equipped, modern theatre space that can hold 120 audience members and a purpose-built studio space with sprung floor and dance mirrors.
