TRAVELLING TO KGV

KGV College is located on Scarisbrick New Road, just 1.4 miles from the town centre. The convenient location can be easily accessed by bus, rail, car, bicycle, or on foot. We have also updated our Travel Policy from 2018/19, which aims to ensure that all who want to study at KGV will have the necessary requirements to get to the College.

FREE TRAVEL PASSES

If you are aged 16-18 and live more than 3 miles away from the College site, then you are eligible for a free travel pass. Students who live 1-2.9 miles away may still be eligible for a free travel pass, but will be means-tested to assess your eligibility. If you are a student aged 19+ who travels over 1 mile to get to KGV, then you may also be able to attain a travel pass after having been means-tested.

The College may also allocate a Trio pass where daily use of multiple transport providers is unavoidable. For more information, please contact the Student Information Team.

BY BUS

KGV is well serviced by buses operating from Crossens, Formby, Ainsdale, Crosby and Liverpool, as well as Magull, Skelmersdale, Ormskirk and Tarleton. The College is situated on a major bus route to and from Southport town centre and buses from across the region stop outside or near to the KGV site. If you are unsure about which bus to take, then please contact our Student Information Team.

BY RAIL

KGV is situated within easy walking distance of both Meols Cop (20 min) and Southport Train Station (25 min), making the college accessible from both the Merseyrail and Manchester lines.

BY CAR

Free parking is available at KGV for students choosing to travel by car or motorbike. Enquiries about obtaining a student parking permit should be made to the Student Information Team. A fuel allowance may also be available for students choosing to travel by motor vehicle who have registered their vehicle and who live over 1 mile away.

The College has a number of cycle sheds around the site for use by students who wish to cycle to College. All bicycles should be secured using a good quality locking system.
