King George V College and Southport College and working towards an exciting union of Southport’s leading further education institutions.
The merger will ensure that all school leavers in Southport and the surrounding area can access a comprehensive curriculum offer right on their doorstep. The Colleges’ are committed to working together to offer outstanding post-16 education to equip school leavers with the training and qualifications required to enable them to progress on to university level study and employment.
The partnership will see both college sites retained with Southport College as the Vocational Centre and KGV as the Sixth Form Centre. There will be opportunity for development and investment in facilities across both campuses thanks to the creation of a stronger, financially resilient college.

- KGV College and Southport College will keep the same names
- Students will not need to travel between Colleges
- KGV will remain Southport’s advanced level provider
