King George V Sixth Form College is an autonomous incorporated body that is independent of the local authority. It receives its funding directly from central Government and the Corporation is free to set its own educational strategy.
The College’s Governing Body (known as the Corporation) determines the organisation’s educational character, mission and strategic direction, provides strategic oversight of its activities and has the responsibility of ensuring that the College makes effective and efficient use of resources.
There are 13 members of the Corporation, with widely contrasting backgrounds and skills, drawn from different sectors of the community. These Governors generously give their free time to serve on the Governing Body. The Corporation also includes a parent member and members of the staff and students who, with the appropriate skills and competencies, provide the College with leadership and direction and work with the Senior Leadership Team to secure the best for the College and its students.
