HISTORY - MODERN

HISTORY AT KGV

History at KGV is challenging, rewarding, fast-paced and engaging. We study a broad range of key historical events and figures during some of the most interesting periods in both British & European history. You will be taught by a dedicated & committed teacher, who always shares his passion for the subject with his students. The history department is very well resourced and always offers additional support sessions.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Over the two years you will study European & British History. We study wars, assassinations, political coups & the collapse of an empire. Trips are arranged to see where the Lancashire Witches were held before their executions and we also go to Northern Ireland to see the evidence and impact of recent conflict and 'Troubles' in the Province.

BUILD YOUR FUTURE

Previous students have gone on to study a variety of degree courses, with the majority opting to study History. History prepares you for the kind of rigorous thinking and critical analysis valued in a wide variety of fields. History can make a significant contribution to any job that requires you to think well, clearly and rigorously. Big businesses - the City firms, the banks, the management consultancies, the chartered accountants - are enthusiastic about people who've done History, because they know how to think clearly and analyse sources, artefacts and historical interpretations.
