GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS

GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS AT KGV

If you like to debate and have a keen interest in the world of politics, stemming from topics such as elections, pressure groups and whether you think the Prime Minsiter has too much or not enough power, then politics could be for you. Students will learn to communicate well via debates, develop a good range of written skills and produce excellent presentations of current affairs.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

During the course, we will look at an array of interesting and throught provoking topics including pressure groups, political ideologies, feminism, multiculturalism and ecologism. Your studies will be complemented by a host of political guest speakers. In previous years we have welcomed Nick Clegg, who did a Q&A sessions with students, and have hosted Husting debates for candidates involved in the general election and EU Referendum.

BUILD YOUR FUTURE

Having an A level in politics can open the door to a number of highly rewarding jobs. Working in the civil service, becoming an MP or even Prime Minister are a few career paths that could potentially follow. Previous KGV students have gone on to complete degrees in politics and international relations at universities such as The University of Liverpool and Newcastle.
