WELCOME FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome to the King George V College. I am very excited to be working at KGV and I know that you will feel the same way if you decide to join us. It can feel overwhelming to be faced with so many choices but I hope that this website, and the staff you meet when you visit us, will help you. I want to use this introduction to tell you a bit more about the College generally.

KGV has an excellent national reputation. Achievement is always impressive with more than 40 subjects regularly achieving a pass rate of 100%, over 50% of these passes at A/B or Distinction level, fabulous results on any measure. These fantastic results are achieved through the dedication, drive and devotion of the staff - but that doesn’t mean we are simply an exam factory.

We do want to challenge you, but relations between staff and students are also tremendously warm and positive and students are always telling me how much they enjoy their learning. Everybody at KGV likes to get involved and there is a real sense of community. You can read about this in the prospectus where we outline some of the fantastic charity events and educational visits organised by staff and students this year.

At KGV, we believe that education should cater for the needs of all students and we constantly strive to ensure that we offer the most diverse and extensive range of courses possible. We also believe passionately in the importance of the individual and our additional support for students is first-rate. It is our hope that KGV will equip you, not only with the skills you will need in higher education or the workplace, but also with the confidence and ambition you need to achieve your personal and academic goals.

I hope you take the opportunity to visit us on one of our Open Evenings in the Autumn term where you will be able to talk to our staff and students and see the College and amenities for yourself.

I wish you the very best of luck for your final year at school and look forward to joining you in your first step towards an exciting future.

Adele Wills, Principal KGV College
